The mathematics behind every kundli, panchang and horoscope — explained openly
Every calculation on Nakshtra Tak rests on the Swiss Ephemeris — the international standard for astronomical computation that the world's leading astrology software is built on. It is derived from NASA-JPL's planetary ephemerides, so the position of every planet from the Sun to Saturn is accurate to the arc-second. The 1–2 degree error that creeps in from hand tables or rough approximations simply cannot occur here — and that kind of error is often enough to change the ascendant or the navamsa.
For the sidereal (nirayana) zodiac we use the Lahiri ayanamsa — the standard adopted by the Government of India's Calendar Reform Committee and the most widely followed in Vedic astrology. Rahu and Ketu are computed from the true node, which gives the actual astronomical position of the shadow planets.
The Vedic day begins at local sunrise — so our panchang is built from each city's own sunrise and sunset. Tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana are shown with their ending times; Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika, Choghadiya and Hora are derived by dividing that same city's day length (night Choghadiya runs from sunset to the next sunrise). Mistakes such as applying Delhi's Rahu Kaal to Chennai do not happen here.
| Component | Our method |
|---|---|
| Divisional charts | Complete Shodashavarga — all 16 vargas from D1 to D60, with exaltation, debilitation and vargottama marks |
| Houses | A separate chalit (bhava-madhya) chart — so it is clear which house a planet "actually" occupies |
| Dasha | Vimshottari up to 5 levels (mahadasha → antardasha → pratyantar → sookshma → prana) + Yogini dasha |
| Strength | Shadbala, bhava bala, Ashtakavarga and Sarvashtakavarga (with prastara) |
| Other systems | KP (249 sub-lords), Jaimini (arudha padas), Lal Kitab, numerology, Western |
In kundli matching, Vashya and Gana within the Ashtakoot are scored with the panchavarga group matrix — not the superficial method of simply adding up sign numbers. Manglik analysis includes its cancellation rules, and navamsa compatibility is examined separately. For muhurat selection, a time is suggested only after checking panchang purity (tithi, weekday, nakshatra, yoga, karana) and obstacles such as Bhadra, Panchak and Varjyam.
Before any new calculation goes live, we compare its results with established astrology software and published panchangs — planetary longitudes, dasha transitions, sunrise times and matching scores. This cross-check is repeated periodically so that accuracy never slips. Our prediction system was built on classical principles under the guidance of Jyotishacharya Aditya Dhar Dwivedi (15+ years of experience; a student of BPHS, Phaladeepika, Jyotish Ratnakar and Jataka Parijata).
