The Shani Chalisa contains Shani Dev's ten names, his form and the stories of his dasha тАФ Ram's exile, King Vikramaditya, Harishchandra, Nala and the Pandavas. Its message is that Shani is the judge of karma: whoever he favours, he turns from pauper to king; and with humility, service and good deeds even his hard dasha is pacified. The chalisa also describes the results of his vehicles and of his ┬лpaya┬╗ (foot).
