  3. Along with it: Singing together with bell, conch and clapping is the custom.
  4. End: After the aarti, take the warmth of the flame with both hands to your eyes/head, circle water around the aarti and offer pushpanjali.

🛕 Puja vidhi (step by step)

🧺 Items needed

  • Picture/idol of Hanuman ji
  • Sindoor and jasmine oil (for chola)
  • Red flowers (hibiscus/rose)
  • Red cloth or red asana
  • Ghee/sesame-oil lamp, incense
  • Bhog of jaggery-gram, boondi or besan laddoo
  • Tulsi leaves (on the bhog)
  • Water vessel, akshata

🪷 Procedure

  1. Bathe and wear clean clothes; clean the puja place and spread a fresh cloth on the altar (chowki).
  2. Do achamana (sip water three times) and purify hands and mouth; sit on an asana and calm the mind.
  3. Light a lamp of ghee or sesame oil — by tradition the lamp is kept to the deity's right.
  4. Take water, akshata (unbroken rice) and a flower in the right hand and make the sankalpa — your name, gotra, place, date and the purpose of the puja, spoken or in the mind; then let the water fall to the ground.
  5. First remember Shri Ganesha (Om Gam Ganapataye Namah).
  6. Remember Shri Ram and Sita along with Hanuman — Hanuman puja is considered complete only with Ram-bhakti.
  7. Bathe the idol with water (sprinkle water on a picture), then offer sindoor with jasmine oil (the custom of 'chola' on Tuesday/Saturday).
  8. Offer red flowers, akshata, incense and lamp; offer jaggery-gram or laddoo with a tulsi leaf.
  9. Recite Hanuman Chalisa / Bajrang Baan / Sundarkand, then sing «Aarti Kijai Hanuman Lala Ki».
  10. Finally perform aarti, offer pushpanjali (flowers) and do parikrama (or turn around in your place).
  11. Ask forgiveness for any mistakes in the puja, distribute the prasad and take it yourself.

⚠️ Rules & precautions

  • On recitation days keep celibacy, sattvic food and avoid anger.
  • Avoid meat and alcohol — purity is valued highest in Hanuman worship.
  • By tradition women do not touch the idol or offer the chola, but everyone can recite, sing bhajans and do aarti.
  • During sutak/ashaucha, remember mentally instead of a formal puja.

🌟 Benefits (as per tradition)

  • The conclusion of Hanuman Chalisa/Sundarkand recitation.
  • A prayer for protection from disease, faults and fear.

These are traditional beliefs described in scriptures; results are understood to depend on faith, discipline and one's own actions.
