A yantra is the geometric form of a deity's or planet's energy — the tantra-agama tradition assigns each planet its own number-yantra (Surya-yantra through Ketu-yantra). The rashi rule is simple: the yantra of your sign's lord is your base yantra — Mars-yantra for Aries and Scorpio, Venus-yantra for Taurus and Libra, and so on.
Purpose-based yantras are a parallel tradition — Shri Yantra for prosperity, Mahamrityunjaya for illness and fear, Ganesha for obstacles. A yantra bears fruit only when consecrated (prana-pratishtha), installed by rite and worshipped regularly — wall decoration alone is not yantra-sadhana.
Where and how is a yantra installed?
At the worship place, in an auspicious muhurta (usually the planet's weekday), after bathing — with daily dhoop-deep; have the consecration done by a qualified acharya.
Can I keep several yantras together?
Yes, but in order — the base rashi-yantra plus one purpose-yantra suffices; piling them up is scatter, not devotion.
