The Jaimini school stands on Maharshi Jaimini's sutras and speaks its results in a sign-based way — the complement of Parashari's planet-centred method. Its first rung is the chara karakas: the planets receive seven roles by descending degrees — the highest-degree planet is the Atmakaraka (soul, life-direction), then the Amatya (career), Bhratri, Matri, Putra, Gnati and Dara karakas.

Why does the Atmakaraka matter so much?
In Jaimini the Atmakaraka is the chart's 'king' — the soul's core struggle and direction are read from it; its Navamsa position (the Karakamsa) yields hints from career to one's ishta.
How is Chara dasha different from Vimshottari?
Vimshottari is a nakshatra-based planetary dasha; Chara dasha is sign-based — the periods belong to signs, their lengths set by the sign lord's position. Reading both together double-confirms event timing.
Arudha Lagna versus the Lagna?
The lagna is what you are; the Arudha is what the world sees — standing, image, outward rise. The Upapada (UL) is the same kind of pada for married life.
